Eligibility criteria for pre-primary teacher
To choose preschool teaching as a career, the person should fulfill certain criteria and complete some training courses. The person should complete the courses like Diploma in Pre-Primary Teacher Training Education and Early Childhood Education. The candidate should have completed S.S.C. or H.S.C. with minimum 50% of marks. A person with personal skills and aptitude along with academic records is preferably selected for the course. The diploma course covers the theory subjects like child growth and development, child health and nutrition, curriculum and methodology and child welfare services. The practical programs include teaching aid journals, working with children, observation of children and language activities. Some of the institutes that conduct the courses training for the preschool teachers include Osmania University in Hyderabad, SNDT Women’s University in Mumbai, B.M. Patel Bai Adhyapan Mandir in Gujarat, Government Pre-Primary Teacher Training Institute in Madhya Pradesh and Veena Vadini Pre-Primary Teacher Training Institute in Madhya Pradesh.
Job profile of preschool teacher
One should clearly understand the job profile before starting preschool teaching as a career. The preschool teacher teaches the children between the age-group of 3 and 5. The teacher organizes various learning activities for the children. He/she helps the children to develop their physical, emotional, social and creative abilities. The teacher helps the children to identify the figures and numbers. He/she encourages the children to talk with others and ask the questions. The teachers teaches various games and play activities, singing and dance, cleanliness and skills of personal hygiene and also training for good behavior. He/she monitors the development of children and keeps up-to-date records of each child. The preschool teacher should enjoy children’s company and understand their emotional requirements. He/she should be interested in all-round development of the children. The preschool teacher should be energetic and having good sense of humor.
